Duluth Return Home for Final Regular Season Match

Duluth FC vs. Sioux Falls

Public Schools Stadium | Duluth, MN

July 16th, 2021 | Game #12

Current 2021 Records (W-L-T):

Duluth: 4-1-0; 4-2-0 at home/on the road

Sioux Falls: 1-3-2; 1-3-1 at home/on the road

Duluth FC returns home for its final regular season match, a rematch with Sioux Falls which could secure the BlueGreens a spot in the 2021 NPSL playoffs. Sioux Falls gave Duluth one of its two road losses this season in a 2-1 victory, earned with a last minute Sioux Falls free kick. Now it’s Duluth’s turn to host.

The Thunder arrive at the end of a strong run of form from the BlueGreens which started following their loss to the Thunder in June. Since that day, June 5th, Duluth has won six matches, scoring 24 goals while conceding just ten goals in that time.

With Sidney Warden and James Westfield paving new history for Duluth every week on the scoresheet and an ever-developing back line combining well with goalkeeper Brendan Dally, it’s fair to say that Friday will be an exciting opportunity for Duluth to finish their regular season on a high note and take home a little revenge.

Warden broke the club’s single season scoring record last week in Duluth’s 2-1 win over the Dakota Fusion, marking his 15th goal of 2021. He is now just four goals away from tying Kyle Farrar’s record 19 career Duluth FC goals.

Records aside, Duluth will also have a chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs this Friday. They are currently tied for points with Med City, who play Minneapolis City the same day, but all the BlueGreens particularly need to worry about is what happens in Duluth, as the tie breaker in the NPSL is head to head results. Duluth has beat Med City in both of their meetings in 2021. This means that achieving the same result as Med City or getting a better result will confirm Duluth’s playoff spot.

It’s sure to be an exciting night in Duluth and we hope to see all our supporters out supporting the team this Friday, July 16th. Kick off is expected for 7 pm CT.
