Dakota Fusion vs. Duluth FC
5.18.19 | Week 3
Current 2019 Records (W-L-T):
Duluth: 1-0-1; 0-0-0 at home/on the road
Fusion: 0-0-0; 0-1-0 at home/on the road
With a full week of rest after their 2-2 draw with the Minnesota TwinStars, Duluth will travel to Fargo, ND to face the Dakota Fusion in their third week of NPSL action. The Fusion played their first league match last week in a 2-1 away loss to Minneapolis City, leaving both sides with a reason to want an improved result on May 18th.
On top of their first match with a full week of rest and training, Duluth will also benefit from finally having the vast majority of their roster in Duluth. While this was true for the TwinStars match, several players had arrived in the city within the last 48 hours. A fully united squad will provide Head Coach Joel Person with infinitely more options than he has had in any of Duluth’s previous three competitive matches.
The two sides met three times in 2018, first in a 4-4 draw in the USOC Open Cup first round, which Duluth won on penalties, and then in two league matches. Duluth won their home match with Dakota 1-0, but drew their away tie 2-2. That draw, much like last weekend’s match, was a second half comeback point after the Fusion led 2-0 for a large portion of the match.
Duluth now has three goal scorers in league play this season. Those are Carlyle Junior, Ronaldo Fortune, and Damiá Viader. Each player has one goal and each goal was scored on said player’s respective club debut.
