Duluth FC will play the first game of its Midwest Championship defending season this Sunday, May 5th, at their new home of Duluth East High School. The opponent will be Sioux Falls Thunder, who the BlueGreens beat in both of 2018’s meetings, the first a 2-1 away win and the second a 4-0 home win.

With the match being the home opener and the first of the season, fans will see the first glimpse of how Head Coach Joel Person hopes to position his squad of both veterans and brand new faces.

The match also takes place three days before the Duluth’s May 8th away match against Des Moines Menace in the US Open Cup. With another match awaiting in the following weekend, that one against the Minnesota TwinStars, the club will immediately be facing the challenges of rotation and dense sets of matches.

With old friends and new faces filing into the roster, the club is indeed on the verge of a bright new season. With both previous NPSL seasons bringing silverware, Sunday may well prove the first step in another historic season for Duluth FC.
