Duluth FC vs. Minneapolis City SC

Blake Highschool | Minneapolis, MN

June 4th, 2022 | Game #5 Current 2022: Records (W-L-T):

Duluth:3-0-0; 1-0-0 at home/on the road

Minneapolis:  1-1-0; 0-2-1 at home/on the road

After a 17-day drought of Bluegreen action, the fellas will be returning with a rematch against a struggling rival in Minneapolis City SC. This lapse of gameplay was extended due to some transportation issues had by LC Aris, which resulted in a forfeit and Duluth’s 4th official win of the season which locks them in currently as the second-most points in our division, only trailing Med City who has played 1 more game than us so far this season. However, if you were to step back and look at the goal differential so far this season, The BlueGreens have been crushing it and it’s not even close. They currently have 16 goals more than their opponents and the next highest is Medcity with a respectable five. Other than that, every other team in the NPSL North is currently negative in that sector, so it makes it quite clear that we are kind of in a league of our own, and are always hungry for more.

Looking onto Saturday’s game, the guys in blue and green will be having their second away game of the season as well as their second matchup with the crows of Minneapolis. The first matchup went swimmingly, as we were in control the whole game, did not let up a single score, and landed two in the goal to send the crows back to the cities down with their tails between their legs. Things have not been going Minneapolis’s way since as they lost 2 of their last three games and tied the other. This included a devastating loss against the Dakota Fusion who they had beaten seven times in a row prior to the defeat. Watch out for the intensity to ramp up this game as the Crows look to snap out of this skid and try to defend home field.

Minneapolis has also let up a couple of easy goals on miscommunication this season and so far players like Blake Perry and Felipe Oliveira have been making defenders pay for their miscues. This is a great matchup and opportunity to further cement themselves as the team to beat in the North Conference.

Kick-off is expected at 6:00 pm this Saturday, June 4th. The stream for the match will be available to all on Duluth FC’s YouTube channel.
