A Marathon for Many – Duluth FC vs Dakota Fusion Preview

Duluth FC vs. Dakota Fusion FC

Denfeld Public Schools Stadium | Duluth, MN

June 18th, 2022 | Game #8 Current 2022: Records (W-L-T):

Duluth:4-0-0; 2-1-0 at home/on the road

Dakota:1-1-1; 1-1-2 at home/on the road

It is again that time of the year in Duluth, for the annual Grandma’s Marathon and around 9,000 people will start to make their trek around Duluth bright in early. The Dakota Fusion will also get up early for their journey to Duluth to square off against the BlueGreens this Saturday night at 7:00. The city will be crowded with people visiting so expect some traffic on the way to tomorrow night’s event.

Dakota Fusion FC did not get off to the start they hoped for to begin this season losing two of the first three while drawing in the season opener. To make up for their early struggles they went into their next two games hungry and wound up victorious, taking down Minneapolis City SC 2-1 as well as Joy St. Louis Park 3-1. This built on their confidence and the offense has really found its groove since, finding the back of the net eight times in the Fusion’s last two games they’ve played. A lot of this spark stems from star forward Tre Bonaparte who accounted for half of those goals. They may have been able to start clicking offensively but lack of defensive play, clears, and communication let both of these games end in 4-4 draws. The defense will most likely try to play a little more conservative and tight this game against your BlueGreens, expect to see some adjustments made by Manager, Sean Morgan, either before or during the game.

Duluth is coming off its second straight win since its only loss of the season to Minneapolis City, but they look to be headed in the right direction. Since the loss, our defense has held up impeccably well and our passes are looking a lot more smooth. This most likely may be the result of the chemistry that continues to build in this club. Players Paul Bobai and Keegan Chastey have really been playing well and with energy so keep your eyes out for those two and plenty of others come this Saturday as it should be filled with plenty of scoring. The Bluegreens still remain in second place in the standings behind Med City. But if the Crows of Minneapolis can do to them what they did to us, then hopefully, this is the week we can catch back up.

Kick-off is expected at 7:00 pm this Saturday, June 18th. The stream for the match will be available to all on Duluth FC’s YouTube channel.
