July 20th, 2021 | Regional Quarter-Final

Carpathia: 4-1-0 ; 2-1-2 at home/on the road

It’s playoff time once again in Duluth as Duluth FC prepare for their third year in the NPSL
playoffs and just second time hosting a match in said tournament. It’s a hosting right earned last
Saturday when the Erie Commodores tied Cleveland SC 0-0, resulting in a beneficial seeding
situation for the BlueGreens.

Duluth FC will be facing a new opponent as they take on Carpathia FC of the Great Lakes
Conference for the first time ever. Carpathia finished second in their conference and will travel to
Duluth as they two battle for a place in the regional semi-finals.

Carpathia are a historied side, with roots dating back to the 1950’s, which are connected to the
historic Carpathia Club which has celebrated German culture and tradition and culture in
Michigan for years. The senior side which plays in the NPSL is the top of a pyramid which
includes a large range of youth sides for both boys and girls. Carpathia are based in the Detroit
suburb of Sterling Heights.

Carpathia, prior to playing in the NPSL, played in the Premier League of America, or PLA, a
short lived amateur league which also at one point featured the NPSL North’s Minneapolis City
SC.

It’ll be Head Coach Sean Morgan’s first time coaching in the NPSL playoffs, though not his first
time appearing in them. The former DFC player is already off to a thunderous start to his
coaching career at the club, making the playoffs in his first season. A win against Carpathia
would give him his tenth win with the club as head coach.

It’s sure to be an exciting evening for the BlueGreens and our supporters. Kick off is set for 7pm
CT at Public Schools Stadium and we hope to see you there.
