Bringing his talents to Duluth FC as an offensive midfielder or wing forward, Nico Railef is a passionate Chilean footballer always looking to put in work for the BlueGreens. Born in Santiago, Nico has played most of his life. However, he started as a center back before successful attempts at moving further up the pitch.
Moving to the United States for his senior year of High School, he developed as a right midfielder while playing for St. Croix. He enjoyed the position but eventually shifted to a more central role, preferring the amount of time he’d have on the ball. All along the way Nico’s parents were there to get him where he needed to be and help form his work ethic, helping him grow as a person on and off the pitch.
By the age of 10, Nico had already seen both Chile’s national team and Chilean club Colo Colo play live. Colo Colo has maintained a place in Nico’s heart as his true club, otherwise he simply supports the success of Chilean footballers around the world. Major stars like Alexis Sanchez, Claudio Bravo, and Arturo Vidal, who also happen to be some of his biggest idols, all went through the Colo Colo early on in their careers.
