Friendly Match Announcement

Duluth Football Club is excited to announce that we’ll be playing our first game of 2018, a friendly against the UPSL’s Green Bay United. The game will be hosted in Ashland, Wisconsin at the top-class Ponzio Stadium of Northland College on April 14th. El Dorado Mexican Restaurant will be providing great food and there will be a free soccer clinic following the match from 6 to 7 pm for ages 6 to 14.

The match will be Duluth’s first chance to play a match this year, providing an excellent opportunity for new Head Coach Joel Person to begin crafting the squad and tactics he needs for the summer season. Coach Person is more than ready to get to work, preparing for Duluth’s title defense season, “This game is a great opportunity for Duluth FC to prepare for the upcoming season… We will have an even mix of returning players and athletes on “trial” with the team on the roster for the game.”

Person, who’s held the position Head Men’s Soccer Coach for Northland College since the spring of 2017, is excited for a return to Ashland and Ponzio Stadium, which he rates as “a top class facility.” He also emphasized how important the community outreach behind the event is to him, “We have also partnered with some local businesses, a local youth soccer club, and high school programs in the area,” a partnership that allows Duluth, Green Bay, and Ashland to all benefit and enjoy from this local soccer event.

A chance to see old and new faces, a chance to see talent from a different club and a different league, and of course a chance to enjoy food, drinks, and football with your family and community. This friendly’s got just about everything and we’re excited to see you there!
