With their regular season over, Duluth FC now looks to achieve success in their second run in the NPSL Midwest Conference Playoffs. Their opponents are Grand Rapids FC of the Great Lakes Conference Division, who finished second in their table with a record of 7 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses. With 23 points in twelve games, Grand Rapids provide Duluth with some of their strongest competition of the year.

Having both finished second in their respective divisions, the clubs had similar stats as well. Duluth ended the season with a 16 goal difference (31 for, 15 against), while Grand Rapids finished with 15 goal difference (29 for, 14 against). With clubs coming from divisions acclaimed for their competitiveness, the match up is sure to provide a good show of the NPSL’s best.

Much like Duluth with the likes of Med City and VSLT, Grand Rapids faced strong pressure for their playoff spot toward the end of the season, specifically from FC Columbus. Columbus lost their last game of the season to the Milwaukee Torrent 1-0. If they had won the game it would be their side facing Duluth FC in this weekend’s playoff match.

The winner of the match will face Minneapolis City in the Midwest Conference Playoffs semi-final at an unannounced location. Duluth played Detroit City FC in the 2017 Midwest Conference Playoffs last season, losing 5-2 to the dominate Michigan side.
