Duluth Football Club will start its 2021 NPSL season with a home match against Joy
Athletic, new arrivals to the NPSL North conference. It’s just the second time in four
NPSL seasons that Duluth FC has started the season with a home match.

Joy Athletic arrive having already played twice in a 4-1 win over the Dakota Fusion and
a 2-2 draw with La Crosse Aris. Both results were thanks in large part to a strong
season from new arrival Whitney Browne, who previously played for Minneapolis City
amongst other clubs. Browne has three of Joy’s six goals.

Duluth, meanwhile, will take the pitch for the first time this season, featuring a mixture of
returning players, local talent, and brand new faces to northland soccer. Returning
players include James Westfield, Jake Starling, Liam Condone, and Aidan Hill.
Westfield tied Carlyle Junior for the most league goals in 2019, with eight, while Hill

returns for his third year with the club, having won the 2018 NPSL Midwest Regional
title with the BlueGreens in his first year here.

Denfeld standout Keegan Chastey also joins Duluth this season, in addition to Scott
Wilson and Eric Watson, who recently helped guide UWS to the 2020 UMAC
Championship title. Joined by a variety of players new to the area, Duluth will look to
improve on the chapter they wrote in 2019, the first NPSL season ever in which they
missed the playoffs and did not win a league trophy of some form.
