Duluth Look to Grab First Win From Struggling Aris

La Crosse: 0-0-0; 0-2-0 at home/on the road

With the league now Duluth’s main focus, the BlueGreens will travel to La Crosse this weekend to challenge an already struggling Aris side and aim to grab their first win of the regular season. While Duluth have struggled to keep out goals, La Crosse Aris have had the worst of said problem across the conference. In their first two games, both away, La Crosse conceded six and five goals to Sioux Falls and Med City respectively, while scoring one goal in each game. With a history of struggling in the NPSL, La Crosse will be hoping a shift in tone is in the way, while Duluth hopes to arrive first.

Duluth are still faced with a long trip to La Crosse and have two games within the next week, one an away day against Med City and the other the home opener against Minneapolis City. With the Saint Louis match only three days old by the time the club travels south, the questions of rotation and fitness will continue to force Head Coach Person to think over his roster carefully.

While the table is currently not even in games played, Duluth find themselves in dire need of three points as clubs like Minneapolis City, Med City, and VSLT begin to find their form and build wins and ties. Joining that group this weekend would leave Duluth in a positive place for the title race despite the distractions of the U.S. Open Cup. Duluth has previously performed well against La Crosse Aris in the NPSL and received three points from each of their matchups last season. Pay close attention to social media for ways to follow the BlueGreens on their away days and keep track of the scoreline as we hope to grab our first league win of 2018.
