Despite being unable to win their second league title after losing to Minneapolis City last week, Duluth FC’s squad still have quite a bit to play for this Friday when they face Rochester’s Med City. With Med City holding 22 points and 1 game to play (against the BlueGreens) and VSLT holding 20 points with two games to play, Duluth can secure the second place spot on the table by winning against the Rochester club. Duluth currently hold 25 points, adding three would put them out of mathematical range for losing their table position. That second place spot comes with inclusion in the NPSL playoffs and the chance to take on some higher profile matches.

Duluth’s last meeting with Med City ended in a 0-0 draw, the only scoreless match Duluth played this season. That match was Duluth’s third of the season and came at a time of transition and growth for many of the players, with Duluth having developed into a cohesive team since then, the BlueGreens will hope to show their progress on the pitch by earning their side all three points.

The match will also be the last chance for players to add to the lead goal scorer tally. Ryan Tyrer and Dana Kowachek both have four goals this season, while Joe Watt, Kyle Farrar, Liam Moore, and Brooks Rice are all tied close behind with three goals. Kyle Farrar was Duluth’s lead scorer last season by quite a ways, but this year’s race looks to end quite tightly.
