Duluth FC 2017 End of the Year Awards

Duluth FC 2017 End of the Year Awards

As we begin our new year, Duluth Football Club wanted to look back and, with your help, identify some of the great characters and moments that developed during our 2017 season.

Our first award was for best hair. While Samuel Winning and Garga Nyuah showed us the power of flashy blonde hair on dark roots, Tim Sas reminded us all that bald is beautiful. In the end you voted Garga had the best cut.

Next came Best Beard, and though nominees Soham Kathuria and Ian Wilson put up a fight, Kyle Farrar showed everyone that Duluth is red. May Duluth’s ginger never cease to amaze.

Next is the Best Rookie of 2017 award. Ivan Adika came in as our first ever participant in the NPSL Player Showcase and Garga Nyuah showed off his endless energy and athleticism, but Vladik Margolin took the win. Vladik always controlled the midfield and even shifted around positions when needed.

When it came to Leadership on the pitch Joe Watt, Tom Corcoran, Sean Morgan and our Captain Kyle Louis Farrar all came up as players who showed it in spades. Kyle Farrar won this award for his endless commitment as a leader in the club.

We wanted to know what you all thought the best goal of 2017 was. Nominated by Tim Sas: Andrew Jenkins last-gasp winner away to Med City, Kyle Louis Farrar header at Detroit City to equalize in front of 7,000 fans, and Garga Matthew Nyuah Jr. diving header away to VSLT. Andrew Jenkins, who’s goal was crucial in winning the conference title last year, took the win.

Finally we asked you who you felt was the MVP of the 2017 season. The nominees were Tom Greensall, Gonnie Ben-Tal, and Kyle Farrar. Tom, who was unbeaten in Conference play, winning 6 and tying 3 in the 9 games he played, won the MVP award for his services as goalkeeper.
