BlueGreens Seek Third Road Win Against Frontrunners VSLT

VSLT FC vs. Duluth FC
James Griffen Stadium | Saint Paul, MN
6.16.18 | Game #9

Current 2018 Records (W-L-D):
Duluth: 1-1-1; 2-0-3 at home/on the road
VSLT: 3-1-0; 3-0-1 at home/on the road

Following their first home win, the third of the season, Duluth now travel to Saint Paul to face Viejos Son Los Trapos (VSLT). VSLT handed Duluth FC their first and only loss of the season on June 6th in a tight match which ended with a surprise stoppage time goal from Mauricio Mendoza Noches. With a home win and a positive midweek friendly in hand, the BlueGreens will hope to continue their positive record on the road and reignite their title hopes with a win against one of the conference’s key frontrunners.

Ryan Tyrer maintains his spot as lead goal scorer for Duluth FC at four goals, with Dana Kowachek close behind with three. Liam Moore and Joe Watt aren’t fair behind with two goals each. Another five players have scored one goal with plenty of time remaining to add to said number. The goals have come from a variety of positions and situations, ranging from set pieces and center backs to build up play and midfielders. Regardless of the source, Duluth will need the goals to come in numbers as they approach the all important second half of the season.

Duluth’s 2017 record against VSLT consisted of both sides winning on the road and losing at home, making this weekend’s match a chance to repeat history. Duluth’s squad will continue its run of good health as veterans and new players become available for Coach Person. The club will also look forward to the eventual return of defensive talent Gonnie Ben-Tal, who featured in the midweek Ashland friendly. With classic players returning and new players finding their form, the weekend match in Saint Paul certainly presents a unique chance to make the second half of the 2018 NPSL season one to remember.
