BlueGreens Chase First Home Win After Tough Midweek Match

Duluth FC vs. Dakota Fusion
Public Schools Stadium | Duluth, MN
6.9.18 | Game #8

Current 2018 Records (W-L-D):
Duluth: 0-1-1; 2-0-3 at home/on the road
Dakota: 1-0-3; 1-2-0 at home/on the road

Coming off of a disappointing return home on June 6th, Duluth now look to get back on track and earn all three points as they take on the Dakota Fusion for the first game of the second half of the 2018 NPSL season. The BlueGreens have already faced the Fusion twice this year, once in league play and once in the U.S. Open Cup. The date of this weekend’s match is a rescheduling as the match was originally to be played on the 16th of May when Duluth FC instead played Saint Louis FC in the Open Cup. Duluth’s two matches with the Fusion ended in draws in regulation time, though the BlueGreens won their Open Cup match against the Dakota side in a penalty shootout. Twelve goals have been scored between both matches, excluding the shootout, with six for each side.

The Dakota Fusion are only one point behind the BlueGreens, which puts them in 6th place. A win would not only give Duluth some room away from the Fusion, it would also give them a chance to push ahead of Med City and the Minnesota TwinStars, both of which are surrounding Duluth with similar points and records. A win would also help restart Duluth’s hopes to challenge for the title or second place playoff spot, though points will need to be picked up quickly as the season creeps toward its end.

With an ever healing squad an a mixture of positive and negative results in recent weeks, Duluth FC will look to get everything they need out of a club who’s proven to be there for their toughest challenges and biggest moments. The match will be played this Saturday, June 9th, at Public Schools Stadium. Kick off will be at 7 p.m. We hope to see you, and your fantastic support, there to cheer us along the way as we bring the beautiful game to the beautiful city.
