Joel Person

Head Coach

Coach Joel Person is entering his second year as the Head Coach of Duluth FC. Coach Person is responsible for recruiting and development of the players, selecting coaching staff, conducting training, scouting opponents, and coaching games.

Coach Person led the 2018 Duluth FC team to the professional rounds of the US Open Cup as well as the NPSL Midwest Region Championship to finish in the top four teams in the league. The success of the 2018 Duluth FC team has also qualified the team to compete in the US Open Cup again in 2019.

Person holds his USSF “A” license and has head coaching experience for the Birmingham Hammers (NPSL), Alabama FC (WPSL), Northland College (NCAA D3), and Francis Marion University (NCAA D1). He also served as the Assistant Coach for the University of Mobile when they won the 2002 NAIA National Championship.

Hailing from Fairbanks, Alaska, Joel played collegiately for the University of Mobile, as well as in the Premier Development League (PDL/USL2) for the Jackson Chargers, Michigan Bucks, and Chicago Eagles.
